This season we wanted to feature some of the old reliable classics from the 90s & prove you don’t need a million dollar truck to tackle Tasmania! So Jillaroo Jess is bringing the Jack back!
This Jackaroo looked completely different a few months ago, & it hasn’t been without a few issues along the way, but we reckon this rig gets the award for ‘Most Improved’ hands down!
The Jackaroo is possibly one of the most underrated 4WDs of the 90s, and this rig has completely taken us by surprise while travelling Tasmania… Check out this sneak peak of what it has been through so far!
Borgy’s Chopped 80 Series LandCruiser
This is not just the ultimate in touring, but it’s also Borgy’s dream build & who are we to argue. After spending years touring Australia, you tend to get an idea as to what you want in a rig, what’s important, & what’s not, creating something very unique.
With an Auto 1HDFTE conversion & a dual cab chop, this weapon is built not bought all the way! So when we said we were looking at 90s tourers, you can see why Borgy said “I’ve already got mine!” There are plenty of wheel lifts in this old girl, coming your way!
With the nick name ‘Orange Taxi’ or ‘Orange Bullet,’ we can’t wait to show how this rig performs in the rugged wilds of Tasmania!
Leash’s Old Skool Patrol
Last season we got to know Leash & her 79 series Landcruiser, but this season she has done a full 360 and picked a GQ Patrol as her 90s tourer. Why the switch from Toyota to Nissan, you ask? It turns out that Leash grew up in Patrols, 4WDing & travelling Australia with her dad & family in both GQs & GUs.
In true Leash style, this old skool rig has been setup to tackle the hard tracks which is what GQ Patrols are best known for, making them a popular choice for many 4WDers.
Leash is loving just how much flex this rig has to offer, and coming from the Cruiser & Zook, flexing like a sick giraffe has been a steep learning curve!
Jamie’s Zombie Defender
Well we haven’t seen this rig since season 3 of the show but the 110 is back out of retirement & Jamie is in his element. The Land Rover Defender 110 wasn’t built for speed, but offroad they are almost unstoppable. The Land Rover Defender is clearly in a fairly unique class, & love them or hate them we can’t deny this rig looks & is tough! This season Jamie has finally been able to bring a few toys on the trip & has built this rig up into something very different to what we have seen before. Jamie is carrying not only the boat this season but also his Quad, plus the rear setup in the canopy is brilliant. When we set out to built the ultimate 90’s tourers Jamie was pretty happy to bring this beauty out & we can see why! Check it out!
